Health and Safety Officer
Estel Engineering (Barbados) Ltd is a prominent Spanish engineering firm with a strong foothold in the Caribbean, dedicated to delivering high-quality installations for construction projects, including state-of-the-art hotels for renowned clients. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Health and Safety Manager to oversee health and safety initiatives for two major hotel construction projects in Barbados. This role is essential to ensuring that our projects comply with all safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of worker health and safety.
Job Description:
As the Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures throughout the construction sites. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to foster a culture of safety and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations. Your expertise will help mitigate risks and contribute to the overall success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety policies and procedures for construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Identify potential hazards and risks, and recommend corrective actions to minimize incidents and accidents.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, subcontractors, and on-site personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, training, and inspections.
- Collaborate with project managers and teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for health and safety-related inquiries and concerns.
- Stay up to date with local and international safety regulations, providing guidance on compliance issues.
- Prepare and present health and safety reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety measures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar are highly desirable.
- Proficient in health and safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
